It’s Friday and the start of the weekend. Need an excuse to get outdoors and photograph? Well if you’re wanting to capture shots that make people go “Wow!” then you need to practice the previous 4 tips, lots and lots. Get comfortable with your camera, understand exposure and position yourself in front of your subject. It’s a cliché I know, but, practice does make perfect. The temptation especially when shooting digital is to go trigger-happy and shoot quantity rather than quality. That is not what I’m talking about when I say shoot lots. Ask yourself what you enjoy shooting. Now for the big tip… ask your friends what they like. Simple I know, but it can be a rude awakening when you hear from your friends that they like particular images and you like shooting something else. This is another great reason why you’ve got to shoot lots of variety. If you need ideas of what to photograph, go to your local library or find a good bookshop and look at other photographers’ work. Ask yourself what you like. Then go ahead and plagiarise. Put it down to research, or study. It’s a great way to learn how the best get to be the best.
Check back tomorrow for another photo-tip or come along to the workshop in just 7 days time. Check here for more information.
